Richard Rivera, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Commonwealth Business Media, oversees all aspects of the company’s technology infrastructure and directs a combined technology group that supports offices across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Asia and Europe.
From 1997 to 2006, he was Vice President, Information Technology, for the company and its predecessor, Primedia Inc. As part of the management team that orchestrated a buyout of portions of Primedia Inc. assets, Richard played an integral role in the formation of Commonwealth Business Media in October 2000, and its subsequent sale to United Business Media in July 2006.
Richard has been instrumental in evaluating and integrating 16 directory, magazine, newsletter, database publishing and information services acquisitions for Commonwealth Business Media and its predecessors. The most recent acquisitions were the U.K.-based companies Aviation Industry Group (AIG) in 2007 and Official Airline Guide (OAG) in 2006.
Throughout his more than 20-year career in technology, Richard has advanced through the ranks from computer operator to programmer to manager in retail, banking and publishing industries. He has achieved success bringing to fruition a wide range of projects in database publishing and information services systems, networking and telecommunications, circulation and fulfillment, finance and accounting, and new media development.
Richard holds a BS in Computer Science from St. John’s University.
